SENECA, Ore. - The Retreat at Silvies Valley Ranch, a luxury guest ranch and destination resort featuring championship golf, has selected golf professional Kelly Horen as its new director of golf. Horen will oversee operations for Silvies' six courses: the reversible Craddock & Hankins, Claire's Orange and Black, Chief Egan and McVeigh's Gauntlet, home to Silvies' famous goat caddies.
"Kelly understands both the golf and hospitality industries and embraces Western adventure, which makes him a perfect fit for our ranch golf resort," said owner Scott Campbell. "We strive to provide each guest with an unforgettable vacation through golf and a range of amazing western ranch activities. Kelly's expertise, attention to detail and creativity make him an ideal fit for our team - he is a big step up for our golf program."
Horen comes to Silvies with more than 20 years of proven course management and teaching experience, most recently as head golf professional at Lake Shastina Golf Resort. He also served as the first assistant golf professional at Rogue Valley Country Club and tournament director for Antelope Hills Golf Course.
"When it comes to one-of-a-kind golf experiences in stunning locations, Silvies is in a class of its own," Horen said. "I'm excited to elevate the success of these unique courses, showing off what has already made golf at Silvies special - being loved by most everyone who has played here."
Silvies is recognized not only for its innovative and award-winning golf experiences, but also for its authentic ranch activities, luxury accommodations and world-class dining featuring ranch raised grass-finished beef and chevon accompanied with ranch-grown herbs and locally-sourced vegetables. Players, along with their families and friends, connect with the land and 150,000-acre historical working ranch, whether on the courses, drinking a Horseshoe Nail in The Hideout or through fun experiences. Adventures include horseback riding, shooting, cattle drives, fishing, ATV tours, hiking, biking, trail running, star gazing, photography, sourdough baking, scotch tasting, spa days and more. In winter, guests cross-country ski, take sleigh rides, ice fish, sled and snowshoe.
For relaxation or pampering after golf and other outdoor adventures, the four-season, Native American-inspired Rocking Heart Spa features a full menu of spa services plus dry sauna, hot tubs, indoor lap pool and yoga classes. The spa also features a climbing wall and fitness center.

Each and every stay brings you the experience of a lifetime.
Silvies Valley Ranch, founded in 1883, is both an ecologically sustainable Western cattle ranch and world-renowned guest resort with abundant healthy wildlife and herds of cattle and goats. In many ways, it sets the standard for sustainable ranching and environmental practices, in the high desert, with all cuisine centered around the ranch's own organic, grass-fed beef and chevon (goat) under the wonderful eye of Executive Chef Kolka. Keeping with its sustainability ethic, the clubhouse and cabins are completely off the grid, with stand-alone solar and gray water systems, insect control from the residents of over 5,000 bird and bat houses and a predominantly gravity-powered irrigation system. Made up of 150,000 acres of deeded and leased forest lands in and surrounding Silvies Valley, the ranch and resort is home to countless wildlife species, mountain meadows, Ponderosa Pine forest, the Silvies River, and 12 creeks and streams. The whole experience is "Simply Amazing" - come and see!
